Statistically, Lohse owes a lot of his success this year to luck and/or the Cardinal defense. He's been good, no question, and has demonstrated terrific control this season (just 1.62 BB/9). But he really doesn't have any business in a discussion of Cy Young contenders. There's a reason he ranks dead-even with Jeff Samardzjia in WAR.

Yeah, Greene is out of options. He was optioned in 2009, 2010, and 2011, so that's your three right there. If they go to send him back, he has to go through waivers. He might actually pass through, but I'm sure there'd be a team willing to take a chance on him.

Komatsu has impressed me with his play in spring training. I haven't seen much of him this season so far, he hasn't really appeared in the games I've been able to see, but his numbers look decent. If we can keep Hector Luna on our roster for an entire season, I'm sure we can keep Komatsu. LOL!I expect the team to take the easy route to keep all their options available. You don't want to remove an option until it's absolutely proven itself to not be an option. Like they did with a bunch of guys last year like Franklin.

Yeah, as you know, cause of the Rule 5 draft Komatsu would be going back to the Nats (or waived) if he leaves the active roster. I believe Greene is out of options, so, having started the season with the Cards, a move to the minors may be tricky. I could be wrong about that as he may have another year due to enough days on the roster--his contract was purchased in Nov 2008. I can't be fussed to research that atm. You're absolutely right about Cruz, Descalso and Schu and I honestly don't know how we could leave off a healthy Craig. Although I like to have a speedster on the bench. I think, because of the rule 5 caveat, the easy decision is Robinson and Carpenter getting sent to Memphis.

I wonder that too. I just think with his knee coming back from the break and the surgery, they'll be reluctant to throw Craig out in center field, at least at first. I wouldn't be surprised to see Craig get some time out there. I think he could play it satisfactorily. He certainly won't be winning any Gold Gloves though.

I think too much has been made of the comments about giving Greene every chance to win the job - while it's easy to read into that as meaning he's being handed the job, I think it's just really projecting onto Tyler "this is your shot - make it or break it".

I believe the ideal situation is for Greene to make strides at the big-league level and to have an almost straight platoon of Descalso/Greene at 2B. But I also wouldn't be surprised to see Greene outrighted or traded by June.

As someone that was in attendance in Game 1 I must say the crowd was electric, the game was exactly what you want from a WS game and the opening ceremonies with the massive flag in the OF (which was really close to my seats) was phenomenal! 2nd time to a WS game (went to one in '06) and I am not 2-0. Maybe I should attend all WS games? LOL

The worst part is not that they get the calls wrong, but they so actively look to inject themselves in the game. Drake's acting gig when Molina was arguing with him was bad, but Davidson following Colvin to the dugout to eject him and then tossing Quade after he'd done nothing more than talk with him (like TLR often does) was ridiculous. It's getting enough play around the Net today--think MLB takes a look at it?

Went to the game tonight and about crapped my pants when Kozma pinch hit for Berkman and roped an RBI 2B in the 5th. He then drew a BB in the 8th after a nice tough AB. From my angle he looked pretty comfortable at 2B as well. Its only a half game but he certainly looked like he belonged.

Kozma is absolutely up because of his flexibility to play multiple INF positions and he was on the 40 man already. He probably won&#39t see the field much but it will be good to get a look at him when he does get that occasional pinch hit of defensive sub.

Cause it&#39s not that easy to rebound attitude. It seems to me that the Cards organization sees Ryan as a clubhouse cancer, and from what I have seen and heard, I agree. This has very little to do with playing ability IMHO.
